How did I get Hard Water?
The water that goes to your house contains minerals, particularly calcium, magnesium, and manganese. It’s when the balance of these minerals gets out of balance that your water becomes “hard”.
This mineral residue builds up and will make it more difficult for soap to lather (which is why it’s hard to wash your hair, and your clothes will seem less clean). It’s also hard to rinse these minerals off, which is why there is often a film on your tub and shower.
What will Hard Water do?
Hard water can be damaging in a number of ways. Firstly, the mineral residue will build up in your pipes, potentially creating clogs and damage. Your appliances will experience unnecessary wear and tear- particularly your washing machine and your dishwasher- as they try to do their job. Hard water will shorten your appliance’s lifespan considerably. This mineral buildup reduces your water heater’s efficiency as well, which is why your bills will increase.
How do I fix it?
Most water softeners work on what’s called an ion exchange system. In this system, the hardness ions (calcium and magnesium) are switched out for salt ions (sodium and potassium). We are experts in the installation and repair of water softener systems.
In addition to water softening, we also offer assistance with water filtration, namely with reverse osmosis systems and with point of use and whole house filter systems.
For water softener service, we’re the experts in Boonton, NJ, and the surrounding area. Call K. Hoeler Plumbing & Heating today at (973) 882-2803 and let us solve your hard water problems today quickly and easily.
